DALLAS, Texas --- Terracon is pleased to announce the acquisition of IAQ Consultants, Inc. (IAQC) in Dallas, Texas. Established in 1994, IAQC specializes in indoor air quality, asbestos consulting, and industrial hygiene. Terracon is one of the nation's largest employee-owned engineering consulting firms with headquarters in Olathe, Kan.
With the addition of IAQC, the Dallas office will be able to enhance their current asbestos services and broaden the industrial hygiene services they provide to better meet clients' needs.

IAQC provides services to corporations, homeowners, insurers, school districts, governmental entities and legal professionals. It is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) as a Mold Consulting Company, a Mold Analysis Laboratory and an Asbestos Consultant Agency. IAQC is able to provide on-site clearance testing for mold remediation, and is the only lab in Texas to provide this service. IAQC will now operate as Terracon, and all four employees have joined Terracon's Dallas office-Garrison, Greg Calhoun, Sharon Freis and Rod Hazlewood.
Garrison, who directed and coordinated IAQC's indoor air quality program, will be the Indoor Air Quality department manager for Terracon. Garrison's expertise in analytical chemistry, industrial hygiene and environmental mycology provides a technical background uniquely suited to indoor air quality assessments. He has studied various types of fungal organisms during the last 20 years and has focused his work and research on the role of fungi in indoor environments. He has a bachelor's degree in biology from Texas State University.
Calhoun, who directed and coordinated IAQC's Asbestos Services Program, will serve as a senior project manager. He has extensive experience and skill in planning and conducting asbestos operations, such as developing asbestos abatement project specifications and providing oversight of all asbestos abatement projects. Calhoun holds eight professional licenses and certifications from governmental agencies, including the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the American Industrial Hygiene Association. He has a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Arkansas.
Freis and Hazlewood will be project managers with Terracon. Freis, a TDSHS licensed Mold Assessment Consultant, has a strong science and technical background. Her contact with the various entities involved in indoor air quality projects has aided her in understanding the unique challenges. She has a bachelor's degree in animal science from Texas A&M University.
Hazlewood has conducted more than 1000 IAQ evaluations in commercial and institutional indoor environments and is also a TDSHS licensed Mold Assessment Technician. Additionally, he holds a license from the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) as an asbestos inspector, air monitoring technician and project manager. He conducts initial asbestos assessments and provides on-site project supervision and air monitoring services during asbestos abatement projects, including field analysis of baseline, area, personal and clearance samples.
